About Me
Hello, I’m Scott Gose. I started Faceted Thought in 2010 as a software consulting company to support the consulting work I was doing at the time. Today it continues in a smaller capacity, giving me a place to scratch the creative itch and build projects outside of my full-time role.
I’ve spent more than twenty-five years at the intersection of software engineering, consulting, and pre-sales, helping enterprises deliver meaningful customer experiences. I’m based in the Greater Chicago Area and work full-time at Elastic.co, a Search AI company.
My interest in software started early, when my dad brought home an Apple IIe. From there, our family had a steady stream of Apple computers and PCs, and by the late 90s I had access to UNIX and was running RedHat 4.2. After graduating from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Computer Science, I moved back to Chicago and have been working in tech ever since.
Today, as a Software Engineer, I help companies build innovative search experiences on top of their data. It’s incredibly fulfilling to help teams unlock insights and see their information in new ways. In many respects, it feels similar to the empowerment Google brought when it made public information instantly accessible.
Building software is both my profession and my hobby. It’s been fascinating to watch the AI wave unfold and see how it is unlocking new levels of productivity for everyone. We’re at a remarkable moment, with AI expanding what people can create and accomplish.
